When: Saturday, January 17, 2009 10:30 - 12:30 pm
Where: Conewago Elementary
The 2009 Fundraiser will be an R&K Sub Sandwich Sale. We are doing our best to seek out fresh new ideas for fundraising.
Note to all Conewago Baseball and Softball parents
regarding the Concession Stand: Our association will be increasing
accountability in our concession stand for the 2009 season. CBA averages a
minimum of 80 home games per season. Several
parents worked in the stand this season, some even many times. Other parents either
chose not to volunteer at all.....or volunteered and then chose not to show up.
As always, the concession assignments will be posted on the site. Our
concession stand serves three main purposes: the first being to cover
umpire fees; the second being a fundraising
opportunity for our association; the last being a service to both the home and
visiting teams for food and beverages. As an association, we must
have 100% parent participation, which is roughly only three hours a season, per
player.
Lack of concession participation/profits will have a direct effect on registration fees
and any field &/or equipment improvements.
Thanks,
Ken Atkins
CBA President
LDBL Meeting
Minutes
Meeting held Sunday, June 8, 2008
Submitted by Korey Gardner
* The LDBL website is updated to include the midget playoff schedule. Under the
schedule page, select the drop down arrow at the "select season" and go to 2008
play-offs. Pony playoffs will be updated when their seedings are determined and
complete.
* Pony playoffs will be hosted by South Hanover but other association fields
will be needed to help fill in some games. South Hanover (Paul Metro) will
communicate this week with Bill Diskerud on what games will be hosted at South
Hanover and which ones will be played elsewhere.
* Every association is fielding a team for the Pony All Star tournament this
year. The tournament starts on Monday, July 7th. Via a blind draw for seeding,
Conewago will host Londonderry and South Hanover will host East Hanover on day
one (July 7th). Hummelstown received a bye. Future field locations, after July
7th, will be determined via random (flipped coin, draw of hat, etc) draw. Bill
Diskerud will be sending all Pony coaches the bracket style format. Games will
be played every other night (Mon-Wed-Fri) throughout the duration of the
tournament. Brad...we will need someone to run the concession stand July 7th and
possibly others if we host more games.
* I listed Harry Bramley down as the coach of our Pony all-star team for
Conewago. I thought I heard that he was going to be. If I'm wrong and it is
Kevin, please let Bill Diskerud know. Also in regards to this all-star
tournament, midget playing rules apply. Please refer to the LDBL website (under
handouts) if you need to refresh on the LDBL midget rules. We will also use an
extra hitter rule this year which permits you to bat 10 players. Lastly, please
e-mail Bill Diskerud our roster no later than July 4th. A maximum of 15 players
per roster applies.
* All teams will pass the hat at all playoff and all-star games to help cover the costs
of umpire fees.
* Each association needs to make sure our insurance policy covers our players
through the end of July or early August. Norm...can you please verify that our
insurance covers Conewago players through that time frame?
* Anyone interested in Fall Ball should let me know so we can send one master
list to Bill Diskerud. Fall ball is open to any Pony or Midget baseball players
who played this year as a 9-12 year-old.
* Finally, midget all-star team rosters will be completed and announced this
week.

* LDBL will be
collecting $500 from each association to help cover league wide expenses. Most
of these expenses are associated with post season tournament costs such as
tournament fees, jerseys, umpires, & trophies. Bill Diskerud will get with
Amy/Harry to collect this from CBA.
* Play-in games for midget playoffs will be played on June 7th. The top 5 teams
will get a bye with 6 vs. 11, 7 vs. 10, & 8 vs. 9 playing one game to see who
advances to the double elimination portion of the playoffs. The double
elimination round will begin on June 9th.
* Play-in games for the pony playoffs will be played on June 14th. The double
elimination round will start on June 17th.
* There will be 3 post season all-star teams for midget. The exact breakdown
(i.e. an A & B team with an 11 year old team, etc) will be determined at a later
meeting. The tournaments we play in will be decided at that meeting as well.
Most likely the Susquehanna (July 7th start) and Central Penn (July 19th start)
will be two of the tournaments we will play in.
* A meeting for the player selection process of these tournament teams will be
held on June 8th. Bill Diskerud will be contacting coaches with further
instructions and details.
* South Hanover will be hosting the midget and pony playoffs. They will look to
other associations, including ours, to help run some of the games. If we have
any of these games, we will certainly want to take advantage of having the
concession stand open.
* The Pony all-star tournament will start on July 7th. Conewago will select an
all-star team between players from both of our Pony teams and play against the
other associations.
